Chase Culpepper,16, demands the right to wear makeup to disguise his appearance. His mother is pushing special privileges for the transgender child. |
A group calling itself the Transgender Legal Defense and
Education Fund (TLDEF) says it will sue the S.C. Department of Motor
Vehicles on behalf of a 16-year-old boy who claims he's transgender.
The Anderson boy's name is Chase
Culpepper, and his mother, Teresa, has sided with the TLDEF to bring
the lawsuit.
The federal lawsuit is being brought
because the boy was told to remove makeup for a driver's license
photo. The child wears girl’s clothing and makeup every day.
TLDEF says it will hold a news
conference, Tuesday, on the south steps of the State House to
announce the filing of the lawsuit.
The DMV wants the licensee to be identifiable. It does not allow non-transgender drivers to wear a
ski-mask to get a driver's license photo taken.
Beth Parks of the DMV said the
employees at the Anderson DMV followed policy. She said policy states, "At no time will an
applicant be photographed when it appears that he or she is purposely
altering his or her appearance so that the photo would misrepresent
his or her identity."
The lawsuit is reflective of a society
becoming more emboldened for people wanting special rights because of
sex-based proclivities. Requesting special privileges for special
interests that vote Democrat have become more prevalent during the
leftwing presidency of Barack Obama.
Attacks on traditions have been
increased, yet the economy has been crippled by the poor management
of the Obama Administration.
