If South Carolina fails to defeat
Georgia Saturday, it may send some panic through the minds of the
This photo was taken about 7:30 a.m. Saturday. Fans were already parking and scalpers were in full-deal mode. It's a BIG game for many reasons, with lots of story lines. Get ready! |
Will a loss to the Bulldogs mean SC
Head Coach Steve Spurrier's program-building project has peaked? Are
three-in-a-row 11-win seasons the pinnacle?
The Gamecocks lost to Georgia last
year, in Athens. And South Carolina began this season with an
embarrassing 52-28 loss to Texas A&M.
Have the bad ol' days come back to
Columbia? Fans may begin to fear that, on a larger scale, if South
Carolina cannot take care of a team that it has come to expect to
beat, at home.
Also: Will a loss to Georgia mean Mike
Davis' best performances are behind him? The highly talented RB needs
to be close to, or be better-than, the Bulldogs' Todd Gurley, today.
Another question, if Georgia wins, will
surface.
Did the Gamecocks squander the success
of All-World Jadeveon Clowney, by not using him as a calling-card to
attract top-notch talent on defense?
Are there not enough good players on D to beat a good football opponent? If so, why?
Will a loss, especially if it can be
pinned on the D, mean that 2014 is already a bust, compared to the
previous three years?
And will a Georgia loss mean that the
Gamecocks have the wrong coaches on defense, with the only option
being to tread water until the end of the season to make needed, and
overdue changes?
Is 2014 a chance to extend the Spurrier
success, or a rebuilding year?
After the Georgia game, we should know
a lot more?
