Democrat base issues harm their electoral chances

Myrtle Beach was in near riot conditions
after three murders at Bikefest.
Be it the Bikefest murders or rulings against South Carolina by pro-gay marriage judges, the latest news hurts democrats.
The Democrat gubernatorial candidate would likely be better off not having to address some of the issues surfacing.
Gov. Nikki Haley, today, expressed sentiment against violence and lawlessness associated with Bike Week on The Grand Strand.
This year three people were gunned down in the streets during Bikefest. Even the most uninterested Horry County resident loathes the disorder and chaos associated with  Bikefest.
It gives the state a bad name, and makes the ever-diminishing reputation of Myrtle Beach even cheaper, and faster.
The people who live at the ocean would love to wrap Bikefest up in a beach blanket and toss it back to wherever it came from. Haley is on the right side of the vote-rich county, that Vincent Sheheen desperately needs if he is to avoid another loss to Haley.
But there is a problem for Sheheen. Bikefest is a mass party for a majority of Black bikers. If he shows any disapproval for the near anarchy and disarray that is a staple of Bikefest, his base will slap him with an Atlantic hurricane-force tidal surge.
You cannot do the right thing, and stay in the good graces of the Democrat Party. The party puts its race ignorance before all. Breach the party's perverted code of allegiance, at your own peril. Choose what is best for a mass of the voters at your own risk.
And dis-incentivising Black Democrat voters in South Carolina is tantamount to raising a white flag for Sheheen.
Another issue Sheheen could do without is the raging gay-marriage debate.
Homosexual activists and their lobbyists are screaming with joy after a federal district court in Virginia ruled the defense of traditional marriage is unconstitutional, on Monday.
It is an issue, like Bikefest, that pushes Sheheen into a corner.
The unwillingness to redefine marriage in the eyes of the government, based on sexual preference, is shared by 78% of South Carolina's voters.
While liberal-ruling judges may be able to put asunder what God and the electorate will not, the courts' decision will not move the people of this state.
In fact, the federal government bullying us toward something we believe is wrong is likely to only make us less fond of Democrats.
Aside from that, Sheheen has expressed opposition to gay marriage. The gay community, and the people who vote based on them getting their way, are much-needed Democrat voters. When they are not pacified, they are very angry people.
Look at the Mozilla hate campaign and the intolerance with which the gay community intimidated HGTV.
If the gay movement sees Sheheen flinch, how angry will they become? It is another group he cannot afford to be honest with. And if he is not, he alienates the rest of us.
While liberals celebrate strikes against conventional South Carolinians with passion, that momentary rush will not serve them well in the long term.
Liberal victories, attached to disorder and havoc, will only cost their political party wins. And that is especially true in South Carolina.

While you may get a few concessions in the end, don't count on it lasting. The people are wide awake. And more and more are getting tired of being pushed around. As Vincent Sheheen campaigns for governor, he is likely becoming acutely aware of that.
