Fighter jets escorted a single-engine plane over the Columbia and Florence areas Wednesday as a part of a routine exercise. It took place between 10-11 a.m.
The fighter jets are assigned to The SC Air National Guard's 169th Fighter Wing. The single-engine aircraft belongs to the South Carolina Civil Air Patrol.
The planned and controlled exercise was coordinated with the Federal Aviation Administration to ensure the rapid response capability associated with the SCANG's Aerospace Control Alert mission.
