Texas Gov. Rick Perry shows Obama some leadership skills

Gov. Rick Perry
demonstrates leadership.
He sounds more and more
like a presidential candidate.
Gov. Rick Perry, R-Texas is doing the job President Barack Obama's federal government refuses to do.
Perry said he is activating up to 1,000 National Guard (NG) troops. They will be sent to the U.S.-Mexico border to help adequately manage the influx of more than 50,000 children. The children are being sent to the US from South America, to illegally enter our country. Their families want us to care for them, so they won't have to.
Last week, SC Gov. Nikki Haley told the Obama Administration she did not want illegal immigrants harbored in South Carolina. Perry is even more frustrated with Obama, and his bumbling of the issue.
Perry said the federal government is offering "lip service" on border security but doing nothing.
By sending NG troops to the border, it is a clear message that Perry is
demonstrating to the American people what strong leadership is, compared to Obama's failure.
The White House is acting a bit sheepish and embarrassed that Perry is taking the action they will not.
Obama has looked incompetent and unsure, while the problem of illegal aliens just gets worse. It is how Obama has dealt with most issues in his two terms as president.
Perry knows, especially in Obama’s miserable economy, we cannot afford to take care of the children. He also knows Obama is in trouble, and needs to motivate his base. So pandering to illegal aliens, is part of a political strategy to help Democrats who are in electoral trouble. US Senate elections are in November.
Perry said, the NG troops are a "force multiplier" and will help the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) "combat the brutal Mexican drug cartels that are preying upon our communities."
"I will not stand idly by while our citizens are under assault and little children from Central America are detained in squalor. We are too good of a country," Perry said.
The NG troops can and will detain people, Texas Adjutant General John Nichols said. Nichols supports Perry and stood with him at the press conference. Nichols said the NG troops offer a visible presence and can help the DPS with immigrants suspected of being in the country illegally.
