Education Industry insiders attack Kim Murphy

Kim Murphy removed for
 being honest.
Kim Murphy was elected to serve on the Lexington/Richland School District Five school board in 2010. She immediately began questioning the spending practices of the district. Murphy also said the board was being tricky in informing the public on how large sums of taxpayer money were being approved.
Then Murphy was suddenly removed from her school board seat after a new-found revelation that said she lived in Lexington County, not Richland County. She had been levied taxes from Richland County for 10 years or more. There was never any question about her residency, until the school board needed her gone, because she was vocal about its questionable practices.
She has filed a lawsuit seeking unspecified damages from the other six board members and state geographers for defamation.
Murphy says, in her lawsuit, he removal from the school board in March 2013 for alleged not residing in Richland County – required for the post she held – was the the result of “a scheme” to discredit her.
That is likely true. Ousting Murphy seemed like a witch hunt, to silence opposition and keep information hidden from the public, that is paying for school board actions.
Murphy should be hailed as a hero. She did the right thing, and was attacked for it, by the people not being up front.
