SC Democrats eliminate Duck Hunt from annual meeting

SC Democrat Sen. John Land
had his beloved Duck Hunt removed.
Is hunting now a taboo for SC Democrats?

Is the no-hunting, no-gun direction part of the Democrat Party's evolution as an elitist party? And is it electoral poison in SC?

It was once a revered tradition of S.C. Senate Democrats. But the duck hunt that was held in conjunction with the Democrat Party's annual cold-month retreat is no more.
Phil Bailey, an former Democrat Caucus director and current Democrat adviser told The State newspaper that “Senate Democrats have not been hunting on their retreat recently.”
Democrat bigwigs said the duck hunt was a concession to former Senate Minority Leader John Land, D-Clarendon. He's an avid hunter, like many South Carolinians, or their friends or family members.
The State evidently did not ask, and Baily did not say why the duck hunts were eliminated.
But as national Democrats move toward more gun laws, or the gutting of the Second Amendment, are the state's Democrats marching in lockstep with the national party's stance on guns?
If so, that is a valuable indicator – with some other issues - as to why Democrats are next-to un-electable in South Carolina for statewide offices. Gay marriage, Obamacare and admitting that the economy is a disaster under Obama, are other controversies state Senate Democrats will have to wrestle with when they meet in November or December. But at least they will have another election result to help guide them by then.
