Is “Kids Count” data politically motivated?

Concern or Propaganda?

According to a Saturday report in Coladaily.com “South Carolina ranks near the bottom of the nation in child well-being.”
Coladaily takes the statistics from the Annie E. Casey Foundation and runs them, not questioning motive or agenda.
Coadaily says the “Kids Count Data Book ranks the Palmetto State 45th nationally based on economic well-being, education, health and family and community.”
Our kids live in n poverty, do not attend preschool and are not proficient in reading or math, according to Kids Count.
But looking deeper at the study you find that all Southern states, that vote Republican, have low rankings.
Mississippi ranks 50, Louisiana 47, (SC 45) Alabama 44, Texas 43 and Georgia 42.
Coincidence? Kids Count data shows
states with GOP leadership with a poor ranking
Florida (38) Tennessee (36) and North Carolina (34) are in the 30s.
Virginia is the only “Southern” state without a poor rating. Virginia, flooded with workers from a growing federal government payroll, has two Democrat senators and Clinton devotee and Democrat Terry McCauliffe as its governor. Virginia’s Kids Count rank: No. 9.
Massachusetts, the most liberal state in America ranks No. 1 in taking care of its children.
So damaging is the Kids Count attack on SC, the SC Democrat Party uses the Kid Count numbers, on its Website to indict Republican elected officials.
But the SCDP does not point out that child poverty and poor welfare numbers are highest in counties ruled for generations by Democrats.
One of the issues important to Kids Count publishers is: Income Inequality. That is also one of President Barack Obama's initiatives, that some see as a redistribution of wealth strategy.
The Annie E. Casey Foundation also supports Obama's Initiative to Support Young Men of Color, and government programs for kindergartners.
No mention of strengthening families by imploring fathers to marry the mothers of their children, or take responsibility.
Sadly: the people who attack South Carolina, some who vote Republican, will see this Kids Count data and take it at face value.
Not reviewing and understanding the motives behind this report can be dangerous because it allows some of the same forces who are responsible for the failure, to get more power and influence.
